Community of Hope

Community of Hope is a course based on the Benedictine spirituality that trains lay ministers for pastoral care service within the church community.  This course has been offered at Christ Church for several years, and it lasts for a period of 14 weeks, meeting one evening per week for 2.5 hours.  Various speakers are brought in each week related to Pastoral Care.  Following completion of the course, you have the opportunity to meet monthly for support and continuing education.  This meeting is called Circle of Stars.
 
Skills Needed: A desire to serve others in the capacity of pastoral care.
 
Training Required: The Community of Hope training course which we intend to begin at the end of September, 2011.
 
Time Commitment: 2.5 hours for 14 weeks
 
Length of Commitment: Following the course one usually chooses an area of Pastoral Care in which to serve.
 
Number of Volunteers: 8-10 per course
