As children of God we have been called together by Christ into a radical way of life. This life is expressed as we live in the world as Christ’s witnesses and serve together in our local church setting. Christ calls us into a new way of seeing…and living. To this we are called…
Verses that highlight our calling…
- Mark 1:20 “And immediately he called them, and they left their Father… and they followed Him.
- Ephesians 1:18” Having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you…
- 1 Peter 2: 20-21 “For what credit is it if when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of the Lord. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving and example, so that you might follow in His steps.
- 1 Timothy 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called.”
- Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen
Christ Church Student Ministry…
Commits to expose our youth to the person of Jesus Christ, feeding them through
the Word of God, learning together what it means to be part of the Church,
and going into all the world to make other disciples. It is crucial that
our youth walk in a manner worthy of their calling and learn to recognize
the voice of Jesus in the midst of the world. Each Sunday and Wednesday
Christ Church youth gather to learn more about the hope of Christ through
the study of the Holy Scriptures and fellowship. Above all, Christ Church
student ministry seeks to develop true followers of Jesus Christ.
Student Ministry Staff
Student Ministry is a spiritual calling. As youth leaders we commit to teach,
mentor, guard, and direct. We accomplish this task by providing opportunities
for the CEC youth to be “…wise unto salvation…” and
all of its fullness of life. Our desire is for every youth to respond to Christ
through service, evangelism, worship, and fellowship.
Instructions from Paul to a young minister in 1st Timothy:
“Follow the pattern of the sound words…” (1:13-14)
“Guard the good trust…” (2:2)
“What you have heard…pass on…that they may obtain salvation…” (2:2-2:10 paraphrase).

Sunday Morning – BASIC
Our Sunday morning Gathering is held for junior and senior high school students. This time is set aside for teaching and fellowship. Students are introduced to faith in Jesus and encouraged to live a radical life of faith committed to sharing Jesus with others and reading the Holy Scriptures for themselves and in community. Students are welcome to bring friends each Sunday.
Sunday Morning – Confirmation Class
Each Sunday during the Gathering 8th grade and older may participate in learning about the sacrament of Confirmation. This weekly class is designed to allow students to learn about their place as Anglicans and believers in a larger church context. As they prepare to be confirmed in March.

Monthly Fellowship Events
Each month the youth group provides time of large group interaction for Senior and Junior High focused around outrageous fun. This includes tubing, scavenger hunts, hayrides, corn mazes, outdoor games, go-kart racing, lock-ins, put-putt golf, and more! Stay tuned! Contact Darla Nelson (darlan@cecsa.org) if you would like to be added to our events mailing list.
Summer Mission Trips and Camps
What are you doing this summer? Camp, vacations, swimming pools, and hanging out with friends. All parts of the “typical” summer experience. But we want you to have a different summer, a summer spent growing closer to God, a summer where you learn about another part of the world and how God is moving in that place. Last summer and just this past Christmas, many of the students in our youth group participated in mission trips to far away places. Places that you normally only read about, but these students fell in love and they want to invite you to participate with them as they journey again to see familiar friends and meet new ones. Christ Church provides opportunities to go to Russia, Mexico, and Africa each summer. Teams are beginning to be put together for this summer’s trips; all students and families are welcome. Please consider taking a mission trip; not only will you grow; you will also have an impact on the lives of others. Don’t miss out! In addition, many students attend Camp Capers, and other camps around Texas. Contact us if you are interested in brochures.
Happening
Officially known as The Bishop’s Happening Movement, is sponsored by the Diocese of West Texas, and is open to all youth, 10th-12th grade. See the special events list for more information.
Service Projects
Service projects are quickly becoming one of our main expressions of fellowship. Join us as we seek to practice our faith through service to our San Antonio community. We have many opportunities to participate in activities around our area and abroad. In addition to an ongoing relationship with the Good Samaritan Center, we also participate with Habitat for Humanity, the SAMM Shelter, and other mission opportunities through the outreach of Christ Church. |
