Outreach MinistriesChrist Church supports a variety of Christian organizations whose missions are to minister to those in need. While each organization targets a different group - elderly, homeless, special needs children, women just released from prison, etc. - the unifying factor is to follow Jesus' example and share what we have with others. The face of Christ Church is known in our community by our support of reaching out to others, to help where we can find ways to help.

COMING UP:
November 17: Last Chance Ministries- Thanksgiving Dinner
Have you ever wanted to serve those less fortunate on Thanksgiving Day but it has never worked out? Here is your chance! Come serve in the west side of San Antonio. Last Chance Ministries is holding their annual Thanksgiving dinner and family-fun event on Saturday, November 17 from 3-8 p.m. We will provide the corn and green beans for their meal, and our hands and feet as their servers. Sign-up sheets will be available in the gazebo or you can e-mail Mary Ellen Archer at memarcher@me.com to claim your time slot.
December 1: Hospitality Pantry Christmas Luncheon
The Hospitality Food Pantry will be holding its 12th annual Christmas luncheon on Saturday, December 1st from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Come and be blessed! You can volunteer to serve, provide home-baked desserts, or assist with crafts for the children. We encourage you to sit down with our guests and enjoy a meal with them. For information, call Tina Honsaker at 859-5062 or Rita Millwater at 534-7042.
Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” Luke 14:12-14. December 2: SAMMinistries Christmas Dinner
We are excited to present the new partnership with the wonderful families of the SAMM Transitional Housing Unit; families who are working hard to break out of the cycle of poverty. This new program is designed to provide a much more meaningful experience for everyone involved. Instead of simply providing a multitude of gifts at Christmas time, it will be an opportunity to develop true Christian relationships.
WHEN: December 2, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
WHAT: A celebration of SAMM families with dinner & gift-giving followed by a worship service together. We want our Christ Church family to shower these SAMM families in the love of Jesus.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
1) Sign up to be a "SAMM Family Shepherd"
This means you will come to the Celebration and will be the Christ Church Host for your family. NOTE: You are NOT financially responsible for your family, but spiritually responsible for them. You will show them the love of Christ Church and in turn the love of our Lord!
2) Purchase a gift for a family member
Each family member will receive ONLY ONE gift, with a value of $50 or less.
3) Donate to the Gift Card Fund
Each of the 22 SAMM Transitional Housing Unit Families will receive a $150 Gift Card. You may sponsor an entire family for $150, or an amount thereof. This will enable them to purchase gifts for their children and further the mission of the SAMM Transitional Housing Program, which is to enable these parents to return to being responsible and capable citizens. All parents in the program have jobs or are in school full-time.
THE DETAILS:
* Please sign up on Sundays at the tables in Parish Hall, or contact Caroline, Schupbach, Julie Zacher or Laura Heinrich.
