Children's Choirs

Children and teens are a vital part of the music program at Christ Church. There are many opportunities available for youth to praise God through song and music making. Whether as a soloist or support singer/player, youth between ages 4 and 18 are invited to grow in their service to God and His church. Through the texts of songs, they are invited to increase their knowledge of Him; through meaningful worship participation opportunities, they are encouraged to offer their talents to Him; through rehearsals and outreach performances, youth enjoy community with one another as they learn lifelong skills in music.

Choral opportunities exist throughout the school year, with 4 choirs divided according to age.

The Cherub Choir
Ages 4 – Pre-K: Sundays, 11:00-11:30 AM
Emphasizing the fun of singing and learning the basics of music, Cherub Choir members join in worship services on Christmas Eve and Palm Sunday.

Minisingers
Grades 1-3: Wednesdays, 4:00-4:45 PM
With the addition of bell and Orff instrument accompaniments, Minisingers expand their knowledge of music and singing while learning to work as a group for the glory of God. We sing two to three times a semester during worship.

Mastersingers
Grades 3-6: Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00 PM
These children continue to grow in their knowledge of music, instrument playing and vocal technique. This group sings in worship monthly, joins the Chancel Choir and orchestra for Lessons and Carols in December and enjoys additional outreach and community-building opportunities.

Sanctuary Singers
Grades 7-12
Emphasizing growth in spiritual as well as musical areas, these singers stand as a group or may join the Chancel Choir and Mastersingers as worship services dictate. Rehearsals are scheduled around specific performances.

Instrumentals
Instrumental ensembles, with a focus on the Family Christmas Eve service, meet in late fall. The Christmas Handbell Choir & Christmas Instrumental Ensemble offer performance opportunities for students in 5th-12th grade, but all budding musicians are encouraged to share their gifts through the year.
