Village View
What is the Village?
The Village is the Sunday School curriculum for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at Christ Church. We use the Bible to study God’s true word in conjunction with art, drama, science, movies, maps, and timelines to emphasize the given lesson from the Bible. Children will learn ways to pray, several Bible study techniques and tools, and how much God LOVES them! Through all of these tools and activities the children will be led to apply God’s true Word to their daily lives. We welcome all parents to join us as we all grow more in our personal relationship with God.
The Aim of the Village Program: To shepherd the children to develop and grow a vibrant relationship with God through Jesus Christ, our Lord and personal Savior.
Christ Church Village Volunteer Opportunities:
Shepherds
The Village Shepherds commit to teach one grade level, 3rd, 4th, or 5th on a consistent and regular basis. The curriculum for the year is prescribed and shepherds teach the lessons and activities according to their God given talents and preparation. All shepherds meet during lunch on the Wednesday preceding a new rotation. We are taught by one of our clergy on the rotation topic so that we may give it out more completely to the children. It is also a time of fellowship with our Shepherd team and the clergy. We have wonderful parishioners who have agreed to be available on a substitute basis so we can leave town occasionally!
Substitute Shepherds
These wonderful volunteers agree to be on a list for shepherds to call when they need a substitute teacher. We would love for substitutes to come to the shepherd meeting prior to the rotation in which they will teach, time permitting. The shepherd will give teaching materials to substitutes so that they can prepare properly for their time with the children.
Room Coordinators
These volunteers will choose one of the rotation activity rooms (art, drama, movie) to monitor, restock, and generally love for the year. You will be provided with the rotation topics and related activities in order to have the rooms ready for Sunday School each Sunday.
This is a great opportunity to serve your church if you are frequently out of town on weekends and cannot commit to a Sunday task. This work can be done at any time during the week.
