Noisy Offering

Monthly Noisy Offerings and food pantry in-gathering:

Each month, with the exception of October and December, the children of the congregation take up a second offering typically the third Sunday of the month. This is a loose change offering collected in metal pots and pans, hence the noise. They love it! And we love what we are able to do with a bit of change. Five of the Noisy Offerings are earmarked for our Community Outreach projects and five are designated to our World Missions. On the same Sunday, we take in donations to support our Food Pantry. We will ask for specific donations each time, but the pantry can always use staple items such as rice, beans, canned fruit and veggies, and peanut butter. Food donations are welcome anytime during the week from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Fridays.

Third Sunday Lunch Bunch:

Every third Sunday, to correspond with our Noisy Offering, Christ Church promotes a fellowship event after church. Folks gather for lunch at Order Up in Lincoln Heights for dutch treat lunch. Put your receipt in the box marked “Christ Episcopal Church” and the restaurant will generously donate a percentage of what you spend back to our Noisy Offering recipient of the month.

Our November collection will focus on Thanksgiving. On Sunday, November 17 the children will collect a Noisy Offering to purchase turkeys for our Sidewalk Saturday families. For the Food Pantry, we will be collecting bags of Thanksgiving sides to add to the turkeys. The bags will be distributed to each family along with a turkey. Bags should be filled as sets with all the items on the list. You are free to give as many full sets of bags as you would like. Our goal is provide 250 turkeys and bags. Below is your list to go shopping. Please staple the list to the filled paper grocery bags. We are asking for paper bags so we may give the same gift to all families. (At HEB a full bag should cost approximately $10). Please return to Christ Church by Sunday, November 17 so bags may be distributed before Thanksgiving.
