Christ Episcopal Church is a loving and welcoming church family, centrally located in the historic Monte Vista District of San Antonio, Texas. Our sanctuary is one of the most peaceful and beautiful churches in the country, but the real beauty of our church is our people. We are a large church, but with a small, familial feel and lots of ways to become involved.

Pastoral Care- How you care for others

Pastoral Care
How you Care for Others

Altar Flower Delivery
Each Monday teams of two arrange the flowers from the Sunday Altar into smaller bouquets and deliver them to those who are ill, housebound, or who have a special need. The delivery can include a short visit when appropriate.

Columbarium Gardeners
Parish gardeners beautify our campus grounds with colorful flowers and plants throughout the year. They select, purchase (with church funds) plant, and maintain the columbarium garden and surrounding beds as well as the planters in the gazebo. Gardeners are responsible for three plantings a year.

Funeral Reception Committee
The Funeral Reception Committee provides receptions in the Parish Hall following a Memorial Service. Volunteers provide home baked cookies, deviled eggs, or sandwich spreads. They also help with set-up, serving and clean-up in two-hour shifts.

Knitters
The Knitters meet every Tuesday from 1:30-3:00 p.m. in the church library. This ministry knits prayer shawls and lap robes for parishioners, friends, and those needing a hug. Upon completion, the shawls are blessed by a priest and delivered to the individual.

Note Ministry
Thoughtful and personal handwritten notes are a ministry of love and pastoral care. Writing guidance and writing materials are provided if requested. You will determine the number of notes you write and how often you write.

Soup Ministry
The Soup Ministry provides home cooked soups to comfort those in need of nourishment of both body and spirit. Soups are prepared in the church kitchen then delivered to individuals who have been ill, are isolated, grieving or have any other pastoral need. The soups are prepared on Tuesdays between 9-11:30 a.m. and ladled into containers on the following Thursdays for freezing. Brownies and cookies are provided by volunteer bakers. Delivery volunteers are needed at a flexible schedule on as needed basis.

Worship at Retirement Homes: Franklin Park and the Forum
The Holy Eucharist worship service is celebrated at Franklin Park the first Tuesday of the month at 11:00 a.m. and at the Forum the third Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. Volunteers welcome residents and assist them as they arrive and participate in worship
