Christ Episcopal Church is a loving and welcoming church family, centrally located in the historic Monte Vista District of San Antonio, Texas. Our sanctuary is one of the most peaceful and beautiful churches in the country, but the real beauty of our church is our people. We are a large church, but with a small, familial feel and lots of ways to become involved.

  • Fall Sunday School
    September 7 - October 19
    10:10 - 10:50 a.m. in the Parish Hall

Christ Centered Scripture: Did Not Our Hearts Burn Within Us?

In Luke 24, when a mysterious character, who the reader knows to be the resurrected Christ, walked with two despondent disciples on the road to Emmaus, Luke tells the tale of the world’s greatest Bible Study. He writes: “beginning with Moses and all the prophets, [Jesus] interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures” (Lk 24:27). From beginning to end, the Bible is a redemptive story about Jesus, even the oddest of Old Testament tales bear witness to the unfolding drama of the Incarnate Son of God. This fall, we are going to open the Bible together with an eye to behold the unfolding redemptive story of Jesus throughout the whole of scripture. In so doing, perhaps we might encounter the risen Lord anew and experience our “hearts burn within us.” Come and see!
